The engine could have a problem with the ECU if the pump is not operating or that you may be getting a false NO OIL signal.

Re: 99 Ficht Oiling Problem

So I took the boat out for a test today and noticed I can't get over 3500rpm. I performed the injector drop test and injector 3 failed. So it looks like I will be replacing the injector, it tests out good on the static test but fails on the drop test. Luckily I have a spare injector on the bench I bought a while back during the rebuild just in case. My understanding of the 99 is that the Ficht injectors are non compensated so they can be swapped and interchanged without remapping the ECU. Anyone disagree with that?
Sidenote; I think I have found the cause of my oil pressure fault. Is it fair to say that since I have 1 cylinder not firing that would weaken the pulse for oil delivery?

I don't disagree on the injector being non compensated. Should work.

OK lets do this, install the replacement injector. And you mentioned your don't have your system tach set up working get that working, and do a another lake test. By the return oil flow in your vid, your oil pump is working fine. At this point you need to determine what is causing the fault. The emm or the software version. I winterize some 10 to 15 FFI's /every year And i do see that fault some times.

Took it out today with the new injector and I got a max rpm of 5,600. Pretty happy with that. It still sounds a little rough on idle (it jumps between 600 and 800 rpm, it won't stay still) in particular it does stall if I leave it idling for a minute or 2 I haven't managed to set the timing on it yet so that should help. Just gotta read up on how to do ficht timing now.

sure ? i admit i never did this this on a pre 2000 V4 but a V6 ficht "ram" flushes easily 3-4 times the amount of oil out of the return line - i do not think its normal what we see in the video. btw - he does not have an EMM on this engine !

urgol :
did you verified 100% there is no restriction in the return line ?
there is a screen on the pickup tube in the oil tank - did you checked that its clean and not blocked ?

Re: 99 Ficht Oiling Problem

So I decided to entertain aerobat's idea on the oil mesh screen and for a second I thought we may have found the problem. The screen is fine and so is the pickup, however I stumbled across something during my testing. I decided to bypass the tank lift line all together and run a separate line and build directly into the tank, and I didn't prime the bulb that well so I saw the oil pressure immediately go into green mode, pressure, ok. About 10 seconds later the no oil alarm starts going off and error code 35 is triggered. I pumped the bulb and the alarm goes off, pressure fault returns. Let the oil run out and again there is a 10 second period before the no oil alarm where the pressure is ok on the monitoring screen. It really is doing my head in now.......
