i am reassembling my 1999 Force 75hp triple. I installed new reeds as i had a broken one (OEM from 99). Upon reassembly i can not find the torque specification for the carb adapter flange bolts as seen in this picture. This is the most info i could find. Does anyone here know the torque specs? I don;t want to over-tighten and crack anything, but i also need to get the seal correct so i don't get any blow-by past the gasket as the cylinder returns down. I'm sure Frank A would know if he's still on this board lol he's the Force Guru

Frank has passed :(
The tuorqe is 70inch pounds.
Use Locktite and a thin coat of sealer or silicone on the gasket.
Stagger the tightening pattern.
Let the sealer/silicone set before use.

I had no idea, i'm sorry to hear. I had been on here in years past but created a new account (this one) He and everyone else were always so helpful. Thank you for the procedure.
If my gasket got wet with oil do i need to get a new gasket or can i use oil/gas resistant on top of it? I tightened them hand tight yesterday but when i started it, i saw some exhaust leaks coming from below the manifold, also saw some oil dripping out.
This oil made me think the recirc bypass valves (still original from 99) are allowing 2-way flow and might be attributing to my years of smokey start ups after motoring to a spot fishing, then motoring away. The restart would be hard, and take several tries, then when i did start it would smoke like a brush fire lol

On the recirc system.
The screens get clogged with carbon and stop doing their job.
They gaskets and screens should be changed every 1-2 years.
If?? you can find the screens??
They sell tiny screens at smoke shops(or they used too).

The more you tinker with any outboard the more it's gonna smoke.
Like flooding a 4 bbbl. carb.
The oils gonna load up and then burn, burn, burn.

absolutely....lol. I'm fine with the smoke but what i was having was more like Stephen King fog bahaha It was a bit much. I took out 2 check valves and sure enough they are plugged solid. I was able to get some valves online so i'm just replacing them all since they are original.
Thanks again for the help, now i just gotta install and tune those carbs.....got the process down to a science on this outboard
