99 Johnson 150

Does anyone know how good a motor the Johnson j150plees was? I was looking at buy a boat equipped with it and I know nothing about it. Thanks

That looks to be the 60* V6 motor. A very good motor, with a proven design and proven ign, gearcase and fuel systems.

I have the 1998 version and it runs very well. The only weak point is that the plastic carb bowls can warp. They must be replaced at that time, which is a drag.

It is just my opinion, but I do not believe the gearcase is as durable as earlier gearcases.----Has to do with how bearing carrier is held in place !!
