99 Johnson V-4 90hp Skipin"

My motor is skipping at high speeds/rpm of about 4000. I replaced the plugs and test ran for about 30 minutes and it still sputters at high speeds. I am thinking a fuel/water separator is my next option. Boat has not been used alot in the past 3 months, but I had started it from time to time and had the fuel topped off. Any suggestions? DJ, <br />The motor starts fine, runs perfect at idle up to about 3500 rpm. It will run ok then every so often I notice a skip/sputter over 3500-4500 rpm!<br />Thanks for the response...

Could be fuel. A seperator is a good idea.<br /><br />Don't run it anymore until you do add one.<br /><br />Or, borrow a six gallon tank and run it with known fresh fuel and see if it changes.<br /><br /><br />I recommend a seperator like this one.<br /><br /><br /> http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cg...erator&**********=464124296&*******=942160732

Installed a fuel/water seperator yesterday and ran the boat for about an hour and everything seems to be AOK...Thanks again for all of ya'll's help...Tight-lines
