99 optipop 135 cooling issue

I did away with the ranger n got a deal on a 99 nitro 882 w/ 99 optimax 135! ? Is when I put muffs on it today n started it no water came out of the pee hole or the compressor. I ran it for 10 seconds. Then I checked the screen and hooked the hose to the backflush port and water was goin thru the block to the LU and the compressor and pee hole. Its my first merc, is the impellar bad? The boat has sat for at least 4-6 months. Thanks

PS. I couldnt tell what water psi was cause the gauge isnt that good but I did watch it go up when I was backflushing

I ran it for 10 seconds.

Thats not long enough to fill block and cooling system, run it for at leas a minute to see if its ok

Alright fazt. It just seems a long time to me and I didnt wanna get somethin too hot.

Do those motors need for the thermostat to open before you get a telltale, like the carb 135V6 motors?

I believe the telltale gets it before the thermostat cause it gets the thermostats supply water. Dont quote me tho. Haha

well i got me a impellar kit and installed it this weekend. everything looked ok when i had it apart. hooked the water muffs up and started the engine, had water outa the telltale in about 5 seconds! showed 10 psi too! my next ? is about the check valves and filters. i know the oil check valve is at the eng oil tank. i heard theres an inline oil filter somewhere? and is there any air or water check valves i should check out? last ? is decals. i brought up the parts diagrams and theres about 8 different ones. Theyres black and grey 135 long and xl and one that says bluewater. i just dont know which one to get. the old decals look blue on the sides and red up front?
