One of my 2 225's has a no spark condition, while I obtain a DVA for more in depth diagnostics, I thought I would post a question here in case I am overlooking something very simple --- some background

Prior to running after the winterization, the following was done on both engines (some is non relevant, but a complete list):
- New 10u spin on's - emptied into a container - no water
- New on board fuel filter
- New poppit valve 0-ring - this required unplugging the CDI connectors for access.
- Checked thermostats
- Cleaned O2 sensors
- New plugs and verified resistance of plug caps
- Drained the vapor bowl - verified clean and no water
- Water pumps and lower unit service
- Initially, the stbd engine started ran 30 sec then died out.
- The port engine did not start right away, but after fiddling with the emergency stop lanyard a few times, it started and ran normal

The problem now is the stbd engine will not restart and has no spark. I verified the emergency stop lanyard is working correctly on both engines and went back through everything that was touched during the my service. Now in the process of obtaining a DVA meter to start the manual stated ignition diagnostics ----- anyone think of something simple I may have missed?

Other info-
- The VST pump cycles - can hear it
- Battery was NOT disconnected (my bad) while unplugging the CDI for poppit work - but ignition was off
- all connections look very clean and like new
- winky blinky shows a single 5 secong lamp cycle after attempting to start

Re: '99 OX66 225 no spark - tonight's update !!!!

Well ---- determined 2 things tonight,
1) My spark tester is not working
2) A fuel pressure gauge is invaluable.

Since I struck our in my attempt to find a DVA locally, it was time to eliminate the fuel component. Comparing the port pump "noise" to the stbd, the non running engine just hummed and had no high pressure fuel sound. Hooked up the pressure gauge and wala --- no pressure. Now it all started to make sense, the electric prime motor was sounding as if it was stalling as well....... pulled the VST drain plug and, no fuel came out. Assumed a stuck needle valve, disassembled and found it stuck... all is good -- time to go fishing!!

glad you lucked up.
your a nut.
next you will piost about what a POS yamaha made simply cause your in over your head.
how did you mistake a no ignition for a lack of rail pressure.
that defies immagination.
sorry if I offend, none ment, just your post indicates another splatter gun attempt with no plan at troubleshooting :(

Re: '99 OX66 225 no spark

Rodbolt,
Yeah ---- no offense ---kinda embarassed about this one -- I certainly was lead astray by the no spark, that is what I get for using a home brew spark tester!! By the end of the weekend I will have a "real one" in the tool box....
I try to stay away from spatter gun -- usually start with spark, then fuel, then mechanical.
Learned a lot about the Yamaha OX66 system here on this forum, thanks for your patience
