So first outing of the year boat fired up and ran great. On the way back to the ramp to head home the engine overheated, I didn't replace the water pump, should have I know. Anyway, engine overheated, pulled the coolant hose off it was bone dry. Caught a tow back to the ramp, started the engine it fired right up since it cooled. Deopped off my family and backed off waiting on the trailer. Lined up and eased up to it. When I tried for reverse the boat kept going forward, long story short I made it home safe no extra damage. Had the boat looked at by my cousin who happens to be a boat mechanic, unfortunately he lives 500 miles away so can't stick around to repair it. The shifting cable was damaged when it overheated and snapped. How hard is it going to be to repair. I'm handy with a wrench and even more so handy with a hammer (jk). I know my way around a toolbox and a car, but not so much with a boat. Has anyone on here ever had to change one, know what the cable cost's and an idea of what it will cost to have it repaired. Otherwise it's going on a 500 mile road trip to have my cousin do it for the cost of an outing, beer and bbq. I'd rather do it myself and invite him back to enjoy a day on the water no strings attached. Any insite would be greatly appreciated.

Howdy, the model of a boat is great when you have a problem with the boat other then the motor and drive. What motor is in your Chris, and serial numbers are best?

replacing shift cables are easy. you may need to pull the drive to get access.
