Re: 99 Suzuki DF70 surg off idle/ 1 peep continuous

Steve from what i understand code 11 refers to a charging system failure and that would be a beep a pause then another beep. Then a longer pause between each code whitch is a seperater pause for each two digit code. A pause about a second or two between beeps is considered a code.

The other issue that I believe your concerned about is the one similar to mine. One single beep a pause for 7 seconds and then another beep. Not to be confuesed with code 11. The only difference is that length of the pause between the beeps.

Another thing that should happen with a code 11 is the warrning lamp on the RPM gauge will blinking code 11. In my case i have the seven second pause between beeps and no flashing lamp on the RPM gauge.

I hope this helps.

Thank you that does help. My "Check engine" flashes each time it beeps. Im taking it back to the shop today. They were supposed to call Suzuki agine but the shop thinks that It may have a small crack some place that lets it some times over heat. When they put there laptop on it they dont get any code's.

With a statement like that, it's time to find a better dealer.

Sorry that you have to do that, but i do agree, find a better dealer or shop. Since I am pretty handy with tools and fixing things, sometimes I can get away with high cost of dealers and wana-be mechanics. Never the less sometimes I have to dishing out some $$$$$ for good service.
Dont forget "we get what we pay for", hard lesson sometimes.

Good luck with the issue and let us know the outcome.

Im on my second one now. The first was 12miles away. The second is 50 miles away. If they dont find a fix for it this week I will try a third that is 100 miles. If they cant fix it then Im thinking it may be time to fish from the bank or find a new engine.

Ya hoo! Finally my hopes to fixing a uses broken down boat that I bought last summer has a happy ending.

This DF70 has been a pain in the butt since day one. I had to rebuild lower unit, I replaced all bearing and seals no gears thank god, got that fixed then of course the single beep every seven seconds that no one ever encounterd or had a run in with . All things were checked and considered from battery to engine sensors. Still no fix, even dropped some $$$$ on injectors and still nothing, boy what a dummy I was.

Last but not least all of you that responded in some way helped me out BIG TIME including Dave from IBoats, the conclusion to the repair was to replace the ECM. The motor ran wonderful out there in the Rio Grand River, it was a great day for me.

Thanks again Dave, and every one else. This forum helped me go through many checks and services to fix things that needed attention, now I can be more confident out on the water with this new used toy.

The previous owner oviously did little to no maintenance, thats why I named this vessal Little Miss Treated.

Replace computer for Single Beep Every Seven Seconds. Great working with you Dave!

Great to hear that you have it ready to go. When you got the beep did the Check Engine lite come on? How much was the ECM.

Steven, sorry I didnt get to you sooner but the new computers are right under 1500.00 buck. I was lucky enough to find one through a contact on this forum, it was his spare ECM. He offered to sell it to me, so I purchased it and it made all the difference in the world. That 70 hp has life now! If your looking for one maybe you can search for a used one instead. This is just a suggestion may be you want new electronics or borrow one just for test purposes. Oh yeah there was no check engine lite associated with the beep. I wish you well!
