I just got this 9HP Viking motor, for 90 bucks CDN. Looking to get info on it and also if I got a good deal or not
Model94501
serial#:1070
The motor is in immaculate condition, not a scratch on it. I would like to know what year, oil to gas ratio, spark plug/gap, type of oil to use and if any one knows of any quirks or timbits of information on it.

thanks
John

Nope! 1965 was 50 to 1. At 90 bucks, you did not get hurt. Running 9 to 9.9 HP generally command a premium price because of lake HP restrictions. If in as good condition as you describe, It would be worth a little more. Ya done good!

Re: 9HP Viking/chrysler

Thanks for the responses, i just found an old piece of duct tape on the underside of the motor saying 40:1. Now I'm a little confused, 24:1, 40:1 and 50:1? My guess is 40:1 or 50:1 (not like its much of a difference), but if any one can cleaify , I would appriciate it.

thanks a ton

Re: 9HP Viking/chrysler

As far as I know, All West Bend and Chrysler engines from the 60s on used 50 to 1 fuel mix. Perhaps the previous owner was being careful. However, 40 to 1 certainly won't hurt the engine and if it makes you more comfortable, then just go ahead and do it. It won't cost anything more with the amount of fuel an engine that size uses and probably won't foul the plugs any more than 50 to 1

For a more definitive answer, go to the Chrysler Crew and ask there. Franz will most likely know for sure.

I'd take frank's word over mine, I'd also take his word over a piece of duct tape haha

I don't have the part number for that kit but check out Ebay and I'm certain there are fuel pump kits listed for your motor. Search "chrysler outboard" and you'll find it. Good luck and love to see some pictures of that baby!

I think there are only 2 main fuel pumps that chrysler used, that one for the smaller motors and then another for bigger ones. I'd take your fuel pump apart to double check that what you have matches those pictures.
