I took my son and his friend fishing on Holliday Lake near Appomattox, VA. We were trolling for Pickerel on a 35F day. We didn't catch any pickerel but Josh caught 2 jumbo perch and my son Jared caught 1. They were beauties. They caught them with small plastic grubs, trolling at slow speed. I hope to go back soon though it is snowing and not sure when we'll get another "decent" day soon. :) Sure is nice to use the 1962 Sea King.

Dress warm and any day is a good day, especially with low wind. If the season is open, don't let snow stop you!

This was taken from my boat this week (Dec 6) about noon on Lake Champlain. Anglers are netting a big lake trout. They also landed quite a few salmon, as did we. They had heat and a top; we didn't.

Enjoy every possible day on the water!

Low wind, what?s that? D:D

The "Beasts from the East" just showed up in force and so did the wind. Stripers like rough water so fishing in a small craft can be very good fishing. Fishing in a Gale is something all together different.

The winds are supposed to subside late tonight, early morning so hopefully we might get back out and see if we can?t find them again. I took off next week to fish so hopefully the weather will cooperate some.

Low wind keeps us safe! I tolerate higher seas when the water is 70 degrees; at 43 degrees, we are more... selective. 3 footers are out of the question as are twos in cold water.

Take a look at video my fishing buddy shot from my boat on monday:

Good luck on your fishing!

I might be going back to Holliday Lake tomorrow. ;) High of 47.... I'm picking up some minnows if I decide to go; the perch MUST be biting.....

I can taste 'em....
