I just purchaced a 1972 Starcraft 18" SS with a Mercruiser 120. Overall it is in great shape.
1. It has trim tabs on it and I can't identify them or get any info about them, can anyone tell me who made them from the pictures? Are they a decent tab?

2. There is a far amount of play in the steering and it all seems to be in the banjo shaped part under the dash. Can anyone tell me what type, brand it is and can it be adjusted. Of the two connectors coming out of it the bottom one is the steering cable and the top one is just a plactic tube about a foot long and sealed on the end.
Thanks for any help
Glen

It is the type called a rotary cable. Make sure the big nut is tight. Other than that it can not be adjusted. They are cheap and cheap to replace. There are some plastic busings inside you may find or be able to make, but that is about it.
Does your steering wheel have a name in it like Teleflex? That is my guess.

Those look to be "fixed" tabs, not like Bennetts or Lencos, which are hydraulic (Bennetts) or electrical (Lencos). Do you have any hyd lines coming into the transom, or an electrical cable, from either of the tabs?

Cr2k, thanks for the info, I will take it apart today and see what's happening inside. I see they sell them on Iboats, but there is two different ones, will have to call and find out the difference. My streeing wheel has starcraft on it.

Seabob4, You are right there are no wires or hoses, just a turnbuckle set up that allows you to screw them up or down, I quess they will work?

Thanks for the responces
Glen
