Thursday was a nice day on Long Island with temps in the low 50's. Early in the morning while everyone else was still asleep I took my coffee and walked to the bay and took this photo from an undeveloped lot (that is for sale if you are interested). To put things in perspective, the big rock on the beach (bottom center) is about 6 feet across. I'm on a bluff about 15-20' above the water.
The next day, things got a little roughter. Temps dropped to about 40 and the winds picked up. The rock in the water is the same one in the water in the pic above. Same place, different feel, huh?
Later that same day we headed over to the opposite side of the island where the above photos were taken, and this is how it looked. Maybe a mile as the crow flies from the pics above.
We had a nice time, the kids played because there was no wind. The waves were just not there.
Saturday we headed over to East Hampton beach on the ocean side. Holy Moley! The wind was nasty and it was cold. There were 5 or so people surfing in wetsuits. Thought this photo was rather cool.
I love being at the shore, regardless of the weather or time of year. There is always something to do or see. And the kids will play on the beach even if its snowing!
