Re: A few nice Choices/ what do YOU think.
you know i never thought of that thank you!

Unfortunately, that boat has the undersireable Mercruiser 470 engine. This was a sort of an odd engine that doesn't have very good support. It is a 4 cylinder block made by Mercruiser with a head from a Ford 460. They have issues that can be resolved, but there are better boats with well supported engines out there. Keep shopping.
I bought a boat for the first time last year and admit I had GREEN stamped on my forehead. I checked out quite a few on Craigs List but only looked at 2 and bought the second one. My $1400 purchase ended up as $8000.00 in refurb, repair costs and a thoroughly p....ed off wife. With any used boat, like a used car, you are buying someone else's problems. As has been said $2K will not buy you much and you must be prepared to spend on the purchase. Commenting on the original 3 boats, my eye was caught by the nice profile of the first boat, but I wasn't entralled by the shape of the other 2. IMHO they looked old fashioned. The first boat admitted the floor was soft and that will likely mean a total refurb and unlikely to get in the water this year. The second boat you said you liked because of the interio, yet the seller admits the interior needs a re-do. You can either pay very little and get a boat you will need to spend and work on or you can put in more cash and get something newer and possibly less of a money pit. The middle road will likely end up where you get more of one and less of the other.
If I was to do the buying all over again, I would have spent a lot, lot more time physically checking out boats, rather than ogling pics on CL and getting info via email. Doing that will educate you so much more, plus yu will start to get a clear idea what your money buys you. Good luck.
okay I guess another thing I should have added, I am trading my Ruger AR15 and max of 750 to 800. which hinders abit but we love our guns here.
The Starcraft is a really great hull to start with, but there's nothing in the ad about the engine/outdrive. If it need a new one, be aware that it will take a lot of power to push 22 ft of boat and cost will add up quickly...
That's a really good point. Gun market what it is right now, AR frames might as well be located in pots of gold at the end of rainbows. It should be easy to sell it outright ... and get a GOOD price on a Ruger AR.Sell the guns for cash. Then use the cash for a boat purchase. Trying to find a seller that will trade a boat for a gun will SEVERELY limit your choices.
lol that would be a sight to see for sure, but i have actually really good luck with the gun as barter so until my luck runs out or i get a boat ill keep going.Sell the guns for cash. Oh I don't know. Just imagine standing in front of the boat owner pointing your shotgun and pistol at him. I think you'd get a few willing to negotiate!! LOL:laugh:
Proceed with caution ... ad reads like that was a Michigan "lake" boat (parked at someone's lake house in the water). They tend to rot out a little quicker if not cared for ... and the floor had to be redone on that one.in contact with the seller and he stated the floors are solid no week spot redone just a few years ago. I will be able to take it for a test drive next friday.
I am walking the thin line with everything and any calls I make sound like a robot with a check list now thanks to you guys! lol Have a few boating friends so I feel more comfortable with the idea of having to repair/ replace. Just want a strong motor the rest will follow suit.Proceed with caution ... ad reads like that was a Michigan "lake" boat (parked at someone's lake house in the water).
