A Few Pics and a couple questions!!

[Arctic 33]

The motor has just had an impellar change. Started and idled good. There was not any fishing line on prop sahft. The lower unit oil looks good.
The question is what should the shear pin on this year motor be, brass or steel.
I just brought home yesterday. Will boat test soon.

Steel, definately. Brass ones will shear off, faster than you can change them.

A '57 10hp. Excellent. I believe it's steel. If in doubt with what's in there get a new one from your OMC dealer. They're only a couple of bucks each and it's good to have spares anyway. Btw, I have the parts manual for it, if you want it, PM me your email address and model #.

That is a nice clean original! The 57 is the motor I get asked for the most, one of my favourites!

Be sure to use the proper pin, or you`ll be changing the damaged gearcase rather than a cheap shear pin.

Nice motor. According to the parts manual it's a "drive pin" (#203663) rather than a "shear pin". Here are some handy links to keep here running for hears to come.

The '56 and '57 models are the best models built. They have the heftier 5 bolt lower unit, used on the 15's and 18's and they hold up so much better than the later models.

This is a QD-18 H, what is the QD-18 C.

QD18 is the model #. It's a 1957. The C is part of the run # and could affect parts when you order them. I find in general that you wont need it though.

The H and C are model runs, or suffixes, relevant when ordering certain parts. Same motor though.

yup. most OMC dealers should have them in stock. I think you can get them here at ibaots too
