I have a few questions about this motor and i do understand the age and parts are obsolete. Is water suppose to be coming out of the exhaust relief hole(not sure if that is what its called), hole in the exhaust housing. also my motor is experiencing cavitation, does this mean my motor needs to come up or down on my transom. trimmed right it doesnt do it. but the motor has to be perfect. thanks

That motor should have a peeing hole and a hole at the upper/midle exhaust housing. Should see water exiting both, if not probably peeing hole is obstructed or have a WP worn impeler problem. You need to trim engine for anticav plate to be seen paralell to water level when boat is on plane with well passenger balanced, if still caviates at this position will need to place engine bit deeper on transom.

Happy Boating
