Re: a few tuning questions

Jeff,

I am currently putting a circuit together to make a DVA adaptor. I should be finished in a few days. Stay tuned.

Chris........

Re: a few tuning questions

swapping the leads on the 2 and 3 coils brought spark up to the previously dead #2 cylinder, so I'm still at the switchbox being the culprit. Figures that the most expensive part would be the one to die - probably through my own stupidity of replacing the wraparound cowling against that ugly frayed wire :)

Re: a few tuning questions

Well, my replacement switchbox came in. installed it, checked spark on 1 and 2. Had good spark. Motor started and idled. Crappily.

However, it was 29 degrees F outside. I'm going to wait until it warms up into the 40's and see if I can get it smoothed out a tad. Still need to come up with some sort of test tank. I did notice that i had some fuel pooling underneath the bottom carb but couldn't tell where it was coming from. It definitely wasn't coming from the bowl vent jet like it was when i had a bad inlet needle. Is this to be expected in these older carbed motors at cold temps?

The only electrical test i haven't performed is the DVA test of the stator output. I'm under the impression that these motors use battery voltage, not stator output, to fire the ignition. Is this correct? My battery has been in the cold garage for several weeks, so i might just be looking at a weak battery.
