Hello all. I have a 2002 Glastron 249 with a Volvo Penta (GM) 5.0L . I have pulled the motor out and found a dime size hole in my y pipe (no wonder I was taking on water
). Well now that I have my motor in my garage on the stand, I figure I'll do some great maintenance! The entire underside of the motor is really rusty and in bad shape. Including all the bolts, oil pan, gaskets, flywheel cover etc, etc....
Bottom line, I know the motor is a basic GM 305, but how do I go about getting things like the bolts, and the plates, the oil pan.... if I go the auto parts store they'll want to know the make and model of the car..... won't they?
I'd like to find the sizes of all the screws and replace them with SS. I want to do this job right, but I don't want to spend the extra money for Volvo parts when lots of GM parts will do the same for cheaper.
Any thoughts
