So far, I have followed the OEM service manual to a "T", and got some really great advice, tips, tricks, AND help from fellow iboats members. This was my first, ever, outboard powerhead overhaul and I've been really really patient, but anxious, to get her singing again. Today, I finally got to hear just that. She carried a tune so smooth it brought a tear to my eye. I have a lot of time and money invested in her, and I hope she will stay with me for several more years to come. Not only did I want a reliable outboard, but I wanted to learn all I could about the workings, both internally and externally, of my equiptment. Thanks to everyone here who has helped me in bringing life back to this old 1979 Evinrude 140. I've learned a hell of a lot!!!! With a little luck, maybe now I can go do what brings me the most enjoyment in my life, with a clear head. To everyone here who has ever offered their advice in helping me, thank you ALL for a most excellent and informative site. Especially, thank you for sharing your wisdom with those of us not so fortunate to possess it. You guy's are truely a blessing!!! My hat is off to you!!!......................... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I APPRECIATE ALL YOUR HELP AND WHAT IT MEANS TO ME!!!!..............And if you ever see this old 1978 Maidencraft boat, powered by this 'ol girl, stick your arm out the window and let me wave at ya!!! If you can catch up with me, I'll even have some breakfast, lunch, or dinner with ya..........ON ME!!! Excellent site gentlemen/women!!! Keep it up!!!................THANKS AGAIN !!!!!............................ALAN
