I apologize upfront, I am very ignorant about boats.....I know almost nothing but I need to learn.

My wife to be was given a boat by her old man...and it needs a lot of love.
Title states it's a 1989 Hurricane Tri Hull.

I was able to find out that it's made by Godfrey Marine. It doesn't look like a pontoon(no side rails or whatever they are called) but everytime I search a model made by Godfrey I never find anything that looks like my woman's boat.

I think based on the description I found here on iboats that's it a 1989 Hurricane FD196. I can't find a picture of this boat anywhere...at least nothing that resembles what's sitting in the drive way.

Anyone maybe have a picture of one of these or know where I can find one? The boat looks like things are missing(screw holes) but I think based on the spacing of the holes it's what I think are called cletes(where you would tie it up) but I could be way off.

It has an inboard v6, looks like a chevy engine to me I assume it didn't come with this.

Any help at all would be great.

Thank you.

Re: A little info

Welcome aboard
You probably have what is commonly known as a "deck" boat.
The V6 should be the 4.3 Chevy or GM block and I am sure is a mercruiser and yes it did come with it.
Is the "old man" around?
You will be needing a lot of boat education on operating this boat.
Please the both of you take a safe boating course..soon

Re: A little info

My woman grew up on this very boat, she's pretty savy and I am a noob. Her pops is around but is in bad shape and isn't helpful, he tried to tell me it was made by bayliner...like I said he's in bad shape.

I already have my boaters course set. =]

Thanks for the welcome.

Just curious why so much education for this boat? Is this not something I should be learning on?

I didnt mean this boat in particular..I mean for your own boating knowledge.
a little 12 footer, or 40 footer, there are rules and ways of the water that are important for your safety and other boaters around you.
It cool that your wife is holding on to the boat, guess you guys will learn from each other!

Godfrey is a member of a marine conglomerate (Nautic Global Group) that makes several different kinds of boats, one of which is the Hurricane deck boat, which is what you now own. That will be a good boat for you to learn on. Glad you're all set for the boating course. Welcome aboard.

Caustic, Yours might look something like this. It can be a great boat if it's not waterlogged.

There is not much information available on these boats. Google what Incoop posted
(Nautic Global Group)
They had sent me some wiring info and some copies of the original sales info.

Mine needs a new transom, foam and floor and I think it may someday go to the dump instead of being fixed up.:(

Good luck with your new boat.:)
