Re: A Tribute to and Remembrance of Lester Wright (SBN)

As i start to copy this thread(all) i look back on the last few days I see that Spinner has touched so many of us in so many ways. I have copied a few here that will be read at his celebration of life on Sat. At 1pm on Saturday take a few minutes and say a prayer for our friend. I have copied a few of the treads here which will be read to all those who attend.

I just talked to Suzi and she wants to pass on her thanks for being here for her and her family. Les once told her that he is known world wide. I think she knows now what he was trying to say. Our friend will never be forgotten.

Re: A Tribute to and Remembrance of Lester Wright (SBN)

It is with much sadness that I sit here tonight, catching up on the forum after being out of town for a few days and reading of this tragedy. I was so touched by SBN's daughters post. It really is hard to make up for things that were never said or never done. Life is fragile and precious and we never know when God may see fit to call us home. Lester is not alone, but in another place where the special people we have been so blessed to know live their eternal life. God bless you Lester and the whole Wright family. Re: A Tribute to and Remembrance of Lester Wright (SBN)

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, 'There she goes!'

Gone where? Gone from my sight ... that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, 'There she goes!' there are other eyes watching her coming and their voices ready to take up the glad shouts 'Here she comes!'"

I have opened this thread several times with the intent to post, but like some others, words fail me. I only knew Lester through this forum but can validate everything that?s been said. I just pray for His comfort for the family. The words of Numbers 6:24-26 come to mind.

The Lord bless you, and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.

I did not know Lester but there is no doubt in my mind after reading all that's here he meant a great deal to many, many people.

His signature certainly caught my eye. It will be my honour to have a moment of silence for him out on the lake next summer before I "Keep on keeping on."

My condolences to his family and friends.

Through our lives we are making ourselves ready for another birth.
Look forward without fear to that appointed hour. The last hour of the body
but not of the soul. That day which you fear as being the end of all things.
Is the birthday of your eternity.

Seneca.

Gods speed Lester SBN Wright.

That's a really nice viewpoint and I absolutely agree with it. It also leads me to something that has to do with "rebirth." I have always said that I love it when people bring babies to weddings and funerals. Some people get annoyed because they cry a little, but I say let them wail, for that is the sound of a new generation. It is also the sound of re-generation. In the passing of a loved one, we have a perfect opportunity to see what we usually don't see every day - the reflections of the person in the newer generations.

When my own father died, I was asked to give the eulogy. One of the things that I talked about is what makes a church a church, as opposed to just another building. Buildings are buildings - they are wood, bricks, nails, glass, shingles, etc. What makes a building a church, however, is the hearts and minds of those who attend its services. The same is true of the physical being of Lester Wright. His body has failed him, but his heart and mind live on in his children, and in everyone else who he touched. In that, the essence of who he was continues to bring good things to others.

Lester to the deep,
looking for the general Resurrection in the last day,
and the life of the world to come,
through our Lord Jesus Christ;
at whose second coming in glorious majesty
to judge the world, the sea shall give up her dead;
and the corruptible bodies of those who sleep in him
shall be changed, and made like unto his glorious body;
according to the mighty working
whereby he is able to subdue all things unto himself.

Re: A Tribute to and Remembrance of Lester Wright (SBN)

The nicest PM's I ever received on this forum all came from one man, Lester.

A intelligent man with an open mind is hard to find, and when you do it is something to value. I valued each and every message you sent me, and your time that you took in doing so. I will really miss them. I only wish I still had them all to go back, and re-read.

Like his digital messages, Lester is gone from the material world, but continues to live on in my memories.

Bless your soul Lester. God be with you, till we meet again.

I hadn't the privilege of knowing spinner bait personally but with all the love he is receiving from Iboats I can only imagine the caliber of a friend, mentor and human being he was. With that I owe my respect and wish all those who were close to him great condolences. God knows good people are always hard to loose.:(

Re: A Tribute to and Remembrance of Lester Wright (SBN)

hello everyone
i would like to take a moment and thank everyone for there thoughts and prayers for our family during this time. it has helped to know that dad was thought so highly of by so many people. by reading all of the post it has made me realize that dad touched many people lives in many ways even if you never met in person. he was a strong man who probably knew for a long time that he was sick but did not want to let anyone know because he did not want us to worry. he fought as long as he could but than he could fight no more. he is no longer fighting the pain but is watching over everyone he knew from above. i hope i have as much streghten as he did to get through this time. for everyone who sent flowers thank you they were beautiful. also a special thanks to jeff woods who spoke at the funeral. it was very nice and it was nice to meet him also. please keep in touch jeff and all of iboats.
once again thank you to everyone.

Re: A Tribute to and Remembrance of Lester Wright (SBN)

Thanks for the kind words Tammy, your father was an icon... he brought smiles to faces of many he never met, I was blessed to know him and will remember him forever. He touched the lives of many, hundreds of thousands of people smiled because he was who he was, he will continue his guest with more power now than ever, he can now hold us steady and straight in that narrow, shallow channel of life with no effort. Just listen, he will whisper directions for our time left to hear. Lester had a great impact on me and was always there in times of need, he will still be there each and every day, I'll never forget, and I'll Keep on keep'n on as he would want us too.

Tom
