A word of caution...

To all that run old premixed fuel in their vehicles...I've been running leftove old outboard fuel in my pickup for years...generally about 5 gallons to 15 gallons of fresh gas, and never more than a couple of months old on the premix, and never more than a couple of times a year. Well it jumped up and bit me, I got a stuck ring on one of the pistons of the big Ford V8. An auto mechanic thought it was broken but I ran some Sea Foam down the carb and freed it up, it could have been worse. Here's my suggestion to all who follow this practice, I would recommend that you mix some decarb juice with the premix to avoid any problems with the carbon buildup you might get...just a Thought

Amen to the caution. It happens I just had a bad experience because I also was burning some old outboard fuel in my S-10 pickup ('96). This was fuel that my outboard was not running well on, for whatever reasons -- know that because the OB was fine with new fuel and oil. I ended up with a miss I could feel (service engine light also picked it up) and some rough running. It finally cleared up with a dose of injector cleaner, some dri-gas and a fill-up of fresh fuel. Hopefully, all the old stuff has been burned off now, but I'm not doing that again.

Oldboat...I would never put fuel in my truck that smelled bad or wouldn't run in my outboard motor. It's just that the old Johnson runs at much highter rpms and lower temps than the pickup(outboard replacement would cost more than the truck would also). I'll just use Sea Foam when I do...by the way since I decarbed the big v8 in the Ford it runs much better...first time I ever decarbed a 4 stroke, it now runs better than it ever has...just a Thought

I use old fuel only on my tractor, it's an old Allis Chalmers, and it burns everything. I wouldn't recommend using it in newer vehicles. Probably your riding lawn mower will take it without problems if you mix it with new gas.

Re: A word of caution...

The stuff I had a problem with in my truck was only about a month old. This is a problem. In the past, you could smell bad gas (still can, of course, in some cases) -- but the smell test isn't as reliable as it once was. I think it might be the summer fuel additives, but don't know -- seems it all smells pretty bad. I think we're at the point where anything older than, say, a month shouldn't be trusted. (Somebody on the list suggested that earlier, and I think they were right.)
