Re: AA-12 - I want one!

My great-grandfather was a woodsman and guide in Maine -except that his "opponents" were ticked off Grizzly Bears that someone in one of his parties had shot but not killed.

Ayuh,....

Great story,...
But,...
The closest Grizzly Bear to the state of Maine is about 2000 Miles....
Although,...
The Great state of Maine does have it's share of Black Bears....

Wow what a way to clear a room. I think i would rather be on the but end of that rather than the barrel end. I would hate to see that on the streets. Just think of the bystander count that would leave behind.

The kickback on that gun when it is in automatic mode will certainly shoot bullet #4 or 5 towards the moon.Besides 120 rounds of 12 gauge ammo weighs enough to make it very hard to handle. The people using these guns must be Schwarzenegger sized.

Man, Jay, those would have been sweet pistols. With the black powder they would have been loaded a little lighter than today's modern cartridges and would not have kicked AS much, but it still would take a real man to hold on to one of them! What ever happened to them? Are they still in the family?

They were passed down to others many years ago. One went to another branch of the family - people I really don't know very well. My brother end up with the other via my grandmother (my GGF's daughter), but I believe it was stolen out of an apartment he had in the 70s.

You're probably right about the bears - I just remember the stories when I was a kid, visiting the relatives in Maine. That said, I have no doubt the the bear part is correct in general because I have seen photos of him with hunting parties. From what I understand, what is technically a black bear can also appear to be brown in color, which might explain the confusion.
