To make it black and white clear I made an official request to the Mercury Marine about the issue. I believe their reply could be usefull for other new boaters like me.<br /><br />Whatever their reply is, I will post it in full once I receive it.

As promised I post the reply I received from Mercury Marine about heat exchanger installation. <br /><br />I filled their “Contact us on-line” form with request to provide a reply via e-mail and only by a Mercury Marine mechanic but not from a dealer.<br /><br />A gentleman who named himself Jim from Mercury Marine called me two days later.<br /><br />Jim advised that on a boat of a size like mine (28”) or bigger the standard installation requires a water pickup through the bottom of the hull.
