above waterline exhaust question

thinkin of useing bobs machine weld on exhaust that fits on mid that has the plugs to quite if needed ,article says works well with stock motors ,
mine is a 1983 evinrude crossflow 175 with boysens and xp heads and some jetting for the boysens anyone know anything about them hadley /bullett ?

Changing the backpressure would almost certainly require carb changes, Benny.

An open exhaust works well if you like loud. An open exhaust is only one part of a performance mod and the hull would have to respond well to minor torque increases. Many times just opening the exhaust without the other mods on a boat like yours slows it down.

The Bob's snout doesn't really un-restrict the exhaust, it still has too many curves. It'll let noise out but doesn't do much for flow.

thanks dhadley yes doesnt make much sense without other mods
i think the crossflow will be left alone ,and kept quite .
im gonna get a looper 93 up or merc depends on what hull i can get
want a hydro and looper

Just a thought - if you're just venturing into hi-performance land, consider a Hydrostream. Fairly fast, easy to drive and very forgiving.
