Yeah I figured that would get you in here....
LOL
anyway, how many of you have ever been blasted by huge wake waves, or a power-down bow wave, while in a canoe, kayak, or very small fishing boat?
I once was sunk by a 21 foot Bay Liner that sped to just 100 feet off my port side. I was in a 10 foot John boat,
with canoe paddles, and was anchored while fishing.
The Bayliner dumped the throttle from about 35 knots to zero knots when he saw me and kicked up a good 3 foot bow wave.
There was nothing I could do....
My friend and I watched with much anxiety as the wave seemed to grow as it approached :% lol
We tried to lift anchor and turn into it, but there was not enough time.
WHOOSH
over the sideboard it came and we floundered.
A blatant abuse of larger vessel power if you ask me :|
Then, the guy in the bayliner freaked out or something and took off, leaving us and our Flotsam and Jetsam bobbing in the water about 100 feet offshore.
( a much more unforgivable offense )
It took us about an hour to get her back in to shore and we lost a lot of stuff.
To this day, I always look suspiciously at BayLiner owners LOL
Ever been swamped?
Tell us about it.
