I am curious if anyone has installed a ac delco ignition system (distributor, cap rotor and coil) and removed the mercruiser stock thunderbolt ignition. If you have have you had any problems with it.
My marina told me it is not safe??? And wants me to buy a new stock distributor, $$$$$$$$

The Delco Voyager? Common replacement for failed TB ignition. It's also stock on about a decade worth of Volvo Pentas

The distributor broke the shear pin, all the parts came out of the engine. The boat is a 1989 and as we know the thunderbolt ignition is expensive if the computer (amplifier) fails. So I want to replace the ignitions system with an up to date system at a fraction of the price. I am 100% sure the distributor is marine compliant, I feel the marina is taking advantage of me. I will change it myself with a mechanic friend.
thanks for the input.

There are many sources for the Delco Voyager marine ignition kit. Mad Props on u tube has a video on it that is pretty good. He is also a member here. I switched to it in place of TB when I repowered. 350 Chevy.
