This is a 4 position switch, no off, just 1 - 4 relevant to fan speed. We just lost 1 and 2 which are of course our most commonly used positions, 3 and 4 still go fine. Wife is biotchin' up a storm, but I see a big dealer cost . . . I am guessing this is truly a 4 position switch that regulates a single fan. If this is true then the switch should be the problem. Anybody have any comments before I figure out how to get it out of there? Anybody know how to get it out of there? Can it be removed from behind without pulling the whole dash apart?

Thats what ya get for driving a gas hog ya rich white honkey!.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Wish I could help but I can't. http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php is a very good site. I check in there quite often to see what problems others have with their expi's, as mine is an 03 also. We haven't had your problem yet. Ours will switch to blowing out the defrost instead of the vents during low vaccum times when on max, and takes FOREVER to switch back to vent. I still haven't fixed it and its been going on since last summer. I really like the truck and the gas bill is worth it so far. Good luck.

Hey, Big B. Yes we have compared notes before. The rear end clutch packs . . .

I have said that it is the best "tractor" we have ever had. Does everything well, but nothing outstanding . . . :D Compared to our Suburban's it rattles more and has more nitpicky stuff. Handles better, pulls the trailer a little better and the seats are much more flexible. I miss the extra space behind the third row, but only on long trips.

Now, who wants to fix my AC switch? I'll head to that other forum too. BTDT on the clutch packs . . .

The answer is simple QC.

Move over here, you won't need to use the AC.

Just make sure the windscreen wiper switch works OK first.

:D ;) :D

It would cost $150 to fill up in the UK.

I can't help with this issue, but I love my exped. A longer version is coming in '07, the Expedition XL. I have a 2000. I like the folding 3rd row seats, interiors of the '03+

your blower fan resistor is burned out. it should be on the duct work near the fan. Ford is notorios for them going out. you may also have to change the plug.

Yep it is the resistor block. jimr is right. Simple easy fix usually. Local parts house should have them in stock. My old Ford service van ate up a few of them.

The resistor block would only have inmpact on positions 1 and 2? Just checking and thanks a lot for the responses. Great!

Thanks for the suggestion RPJS . . . but I have to get the AC fixed before my poor abused family would stand the trip to the Airport :D Ya know, a little too cold, no, wait, now it's too hot. If only we had low, "dad, mom says it's your fault" . . . hmmmmm.

Not familiar with the expedition, but on most late model vehicles - that big plug at top of pic is the loom that feeds the resistor. Pull the plug, there should be 1 or 2 screws holding in the resistor block.

Yes, as Aldo says, the resistor was under that plug and was a two screw deal, not counting the screw I got from the Ford Dealers in my area trying to buy that part. I paid $20.57 which is MSRP and that in itslef has very little to do with my previous screw comment. I will be posting a nice little rant in DC soon . . .

Anyway, thanks all!! Happy wife equals happy QC. Done deal.

Rant link

For future reference, a fan resistor needs to handle big amps, look at the size of the wires in that loom.

my work here is done - up up and away..................
