today is the first day I have spent all day on the lake. the first tank of gas I had no problems the second tank gave me a worry. The boat started and idled just fine even when i put it in gear at idle speeds. I then accelerated quickly it wheezed and sputtered i then put it back in neutral and revved the motor no sputtering put it back in gear then it worked fine This happened about 5 more times.

I use 91 octane exclusively 93 if i can find it.

Re: acceleration problem

Perhaps a failing accelerator pump in the carburetor or some gunk and grit clogging something in the carb up or the carb just plum needs to be rebuilt.

With the flame arrestor off pump the throttle and listen to hear it squirt gas, should be a good shot of gas down the venturi's.

Low test would probably be fine unless you have a high compression powerhouse......
