Acceleration problem

I have a 1999 Regal commodore 242 with a volvo penta 5.0GL and a SX-M.

When I am cruising at low speed and accelerate the engine hesitates and you can hear the engine like if gas was not reaching the carburator and then it accelerates with no problem after that.

It seems to do that at the same spot in the remote control all the time.

Any thoughts of what could be?

Re: Acceleration problem

Sounds like the accelerator pump in the carb needs a clean out...

I agree. Given the havoc that ethanol reeks on fuel system components, while you have it apart, just rebuild the thing. could have clogs, and even if the acc. pump looks good the odds are that it is not. I just had the same problem with my carb. Rebuilt it (I think it was $70 for the kit) and it works like a champ.

Re: Acceleration problem

if you have the manual and are mechanically inclined then it's not too difficult. If you fear doing this then I would take it to a shop and have it professionally done.
It's more time consuming then anything else.

Re: Acceleration problem

Thank you guys. Is that something I can wait or do I need to have it done ASAP?

The longer you leave it, the worse it will get....
