Question here Stacks....when your throttling up, are you nose high and then around 4k it seems to nose over and comes the rest of the way up on rpm?

You won't get WOT in reverse. Just enough to power off the trailer.

About the money.....welll....your on your own there ol' buddy.

Re: Accelleration & Deccelleration Problems

We, we took it out for a spin an it was nice,
Drove down on creek doing about 6000 rpm did nice on the plane out though. went to the Tennisee State Line before bring'er back to the ramp for another lync and sync test. Dam Gear shifter been givin me a hard time today about wanting to dissingage when I dont want it to, ( been Stickn in idle a little } we saw 6200 rpm amd rippin it up out there today now, the water was hot, windy and just begging for someone to get going on it today. We tore into them Carbs last night and made them look real fine this mournin, we bolted it all to gether an threw in another fuel fitler for kicks and bled that, cracked a few cold ones this afternoon and lit the fire on the water, she'l idle high out of water but under prssure its a mild ildeler, hammer down and gets with it, we hammer her to about 4500 then after about thirty seconds opener up to about 6200 and she'll plane right out on choppy 3'ft seas. yup just like we wanted it to do, well we wanted it to do itself but I guess we ask it to many questions; thats why we got you Righty ooooooooooohhhh! bbuzzzzz up on that uone yup we'll try'er again munyanna, another beutiful day for more suntan's and adjustments to drink up ???
anybody out there ???
Oh OK ...
Sincerely Stacks

OH Yah, Nose High on the way up to 4000 rpm and after a couple minutes she lays right down for the horsepower. once were on the top side of position 5, we can go all the way up or back down to position 4, but when we hang around 4500 to much she wants to go bogging. she will get and spit at 5000 rpm and after that is all in. slow speed idle below 3000 rpm is nice and were no have any changes at the lower speeds no wake zone are easy keeping with minimal sputtering, idle peed is a little on high side until lever in push back down in snaped position. reversre was a joke guess you called us on that one, reverse works fine, we pooled our dough together can could fill it back up about seventy one thousand more times, should have just bought a new on, but then we would'nt have you'll to work with..........
Sincerely Stacks

Re: Accelleration & Deccelleration Problems

First, you don't ned to put 93 octane in that motor. If you just have to run 93, spend some time getting the jetting a bit richer to compensate.

Then, what spark plugs are you using?

Then, look at the tach setting. It should be on position 6, not 4. I doubt seriously you're getting 6900. Probably not 6500.

Re: Accelleration & Deccelleration Problems

93 octane is all I have ever run in it during the first tank start ups, hey thats just me you run what ever you want. thanks for the jet compensation idea, we did already do that and it was a lync and sync issue. we have acheived a little over 6200 and position (6) would have been a good guess if thats the type of tach your useing, again you use what you want, our issue has been solved the engine is running better than it ever has in the last five years, especially since it has new guts. well its cheaper than buying a new one, I owe some of my thanks too "OBJ" and the rest to the good ole manual of prayer.
Sincerely Stacks

Re: Accelleration & Deccelleration Problems

Hey Stacks...glad to hear the engines is running better.

Dhadley mentioned tach settings. On the back of your tach there should be a little dial with numbers around it. Make sure the dials arrow is pointing at 6. Knowing the correct rpm of an engine is very important for proping and knowing what the engine is doing.

And really, unless there is an issue with the engine when you use regular gas, I don't really think you would see the difference. Besides, it'd be more money for beer.

Got a couple more questions for ya'....does the engine have trim and tilt and do you use it?

When the engine is setting straight up and down on the boat, there's a plate right over the prop called the anti-cavitation plate by some, does this plate hang above or below the keel of the boat?
