I am wondering how to replace flapper in the exhaust down tube, if it can be reached?

I am suspicious of finding flapper at bottom of down pipe contributing to bogging and overheating?

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... The shutters live at the top of the down pipe, so remove whatever upper exhaust that's necessary to access,.....

If they're burnt up, 'n fallen, pull the drive, 'n look up the exhaust passage,....

That's about the only way, you might need to take a coat hanger and bend it into a hook shape to grab it and pull it out. I had to do this once when I had an overheat. Here's the one that didn't fall down the Y pipe, the other one was in the bottom of the exhaust passage. I also found one stuck in the water passage in the drive, on a used drive I bought as a spare!
