Ok, I just pulled all of my boating items out and piled them on the living room floor. (Wifey is out of town this weekend, can you tell? :D )

I am going to be going shopping today on what I would like to think is my last "major" shopping trip for my boat. I know this is a pipe-dream, and that I will never stop shopping for my boat, but I'm hoping to finish up on the necessities today.

Here's what I have:

6 PFD's
1 Throwable PFD
3 Fenders
1 Fixed Mount VHF
1 Tube (yeah, I know necessity? :D )
1 Tube tow line
1 Paddle/Boat Hook
1 8 lb Danforth Anchoor
1 Anchor Chain
1 Spool of Anchor line (100')
2 Mooring lines
2 First aid kits
1 Compressed Air horn
1 Whistle
1 Grade B fire extinguisher.
1 Shakable LED Flashlight (no batteries required)
1 Waterproof box to store everything in.

Am I missing anything? According to the USCG's Vessel safety check list I am OK to go... But from a "reasonable boater" standpoint, am I missing anything?

Personally,......

I don't leave the house without a Toolbox,......Muchless Go Boating without a reasonable Tool Kit.....

Ahh - thanks Bondo. I forgot to mention that because it isn't sitting in my living room right now :D I have a whole bunch of tools I'm going to be putting in the waterproof box that I have for some of the rest of my stuff.

I would recommend 2 more docking/mooring lines.

One long set of jumper cables. Mine have come in handy several times. i've never needed them to start my boat but I've given jumps to people on the lake at least a couple of times a summer. Hopefully some of them will be around when I need a jump one day.

A good sharp knife in the glove box comes in handy for all kinds of things. I keep a leatherman multi-tool on the boat.

-Flares
-A second anchor with line. IMO a necessity.
-Emergency bilge pump.
-A kill switch- with a spare lanyard.
-An installed fume detector. Cheap insurance for sure.
-Spare engine oil. Someone will need it sooner or later.
-A spare prop with wrench, nut and washer.
-Extra fuel filter and wrench.

BTW- that LED shakelight you have- store it well away from your magnetic compass. The flashlight has magnets inside and will cause the compass to read incorrectly.

How far offshore do you go? I always have some flares aboard as I may find myself 25 miles offshore.

I am not sure how accesible your bilge is but I generally carry a spare plug. I also have a few sets of spark plugs.......again not sure how easy they are to get to on your I/O.

In an ammo tin I keep my first aid kit, a few rags, cotter pins and prop nuts and washer, spark plugs, 2 or 3 different kinds of tape, a small spool of electrical wire and wire nuts, and other tools like wrenchs screwdrivers and a socket of every bolt on the boat that i might need to remove. Spare batteries for gps and flashlights are nice to have as well.
