achris stated that he pressure/vaccuum tested the upper and lower halves of the merc drive seperatly, so good so far. The question is this,

Q, #1 what driveshaft did you use to seal the upper half when testing?

Q,#2) Regarding the gear housing, (lower half). The propshaft has some scrathes and VERY fine nicks, (I'm not sure, but it looks like they might match my screwdriver, or 'very fine punch"...but I didn't say that), as well as a wear grove from the seal, maybe .003" deep. The shaft is in situ, (within the carrier, within the gear housing). any advise in cleaning it up? as the area to work in is confined? or must I pull the shaft?

Q,#3 any other tips on pressure/vacuum testing the halves on this merc #1 door stop, I mean drive?thanks guys.
