was talking to a close friend today, that works with a shop that refurbishes car carburaters, they acid dip them to remove all crud , which cleans things up to "as new". has anyone done this with outboard carbs? if so, what was the result and cost ? (was told $10 for a dip, if i supplied the carb fully dissasembled)

Re: acid dipping carb bodies?

Some newer (1990's and up) manuals do not recommend soaking carbs at all. Seems that it can remove a coating that seals up the metal's porosity.
I have no idea if this is true.
