Does anyone know where that rubber washer goes on the lower anode bolt? Does it go directly on the back of the actual acorn shaped anode as a gasket, or does it get fastened to the square part of the bolt to the transom. I put that washer behind the acorn. I know it's obsolete, but I need to know still. I'm going to use 4200 with it, I just need to know where that rubber washer gets installed.

I took 2 boat’s apart. One was an 86, the other a 71. The washer was against the square shank and tightened into the housing. I put my boat back the same way but have not had it in the water yet

Thanks, I did it wrong, and it's too late now. Getting them off while the engine is in may be tough. I'll see if I can slightly loosen them if possible, and fill with 4200.

I was able to stop the small leak coming in from the anode bolt by removing the acorn zinc and squirting in some 3M 4200 in and around the outside of the acorn zinc, and then I tightened it up pretty good. No leaks, dry as a bone. That stuff works fantastic.

I believe there are supposed to be two washers... 12-56085 which goes between the anode and bolt and 12-32620 which goes between the gimbal housing and bolt. The bolt kit comes with the one for the anode and the gimbal one needs to be ordered separately....

I only got one washer per each anode. It's good now with the 3M 4200.
