Have an older acrylic windshield that has an overall haze to it. Like looking through a fog. Suspect its the result of years of cleaning.

Have heard of various plastic polishes that make a lot of claims, but do they really work?

Hoping to hear from members here that have used actual products with either good or bad results.

Tell me about your experiences please.

Well I picked up the Novus #1 and #2 polishes.

That's my project for the weekend since I can't get outside because of the rain. The windshield is in the shop and I'll report back later on the results.

Re: Acrylic polish for windshields

I've been using Nortech Clean View polish from the local bike shop, it's meant for cruiser windshields and it's the easiest to use that I've found so far. It's worked wonders with several older boat windshields so far. The only problem is that I've not been able to find it in years. I bought a case of it about 8 years ago at a bike show, and haven't seen it since. The address is NC but they don't seem to have any web presence at all. The dealer that I bought it from is gone.
The closest I've seen to it is from Mother's but it's not near as fast or as perfect. I have used Mother's Plastic Polish with a foam buffer pad for larger jobs with good results. It works super well on plastic lenses and headlight covers too.

Well I went ahead and used the Novus polishes today. Took about 2 hours for whole windshield, inside and out.

Incredible results. The windshield went from foggy/hazy to crystal clear. I am skeptical by nature about these "miracle" fixes but I have to tell you, the results were spectacular. My son who said it couldn't be repaired was amazed. Its not like a new piece of acrylic but I would say its a 9 out of 10.

After cleaning with the #1 cleaner, I used the #2 polish with an 8" random orbital electric polisher then buffed with a sheepskin pad.

I bought the 8oz size, not knowing how much would be needed. Turns out it was way more than needed. I used maybe 10% of the bottle but it was money well spent. The alternative was a new custom windshield for a few hundred $$$ because I could not have safely used it the way it was.
