LOL naw this is safe grounds .. he can be mentioned here :) hehe still chuckling at your remark!

Now I'm going to do a google search.. cant remember his name. yup it worked :)

Another choice for me would be
John Travolta

Because he is so famous it hurts him sometimes.
You only see "John Travolta " and in those I just hit stop and don't watch the rest of the movie.

But when he is on clue.. I sometimes stop the movie and say to Mrs.Link "I can't believe this is John Travolta!" he can be that good.

Re: Actors

Gene Hackman has the ability to make me beleive his IS whoever he is portraying. Crimson Tide, "You can make a horse deal cards, it's simply a matter of voltage." I have never been disappointed in any movie he was a part of.

Its hard to put a finger on what exactly makes a great actor, but when knowing a specific actor is in a movie makes it worth viewing seems like a good benchmark.

Re: Actors

Dame Judith is brilliant. "As Time Goes By" is a Saturday night standard on Maryland Public TV - I try to watch it every week. Guess I've seen all episodes at least three times. Also like "A Fine Romance" which she did in the early '80's with her real life husband, Michael Williams who died in 2001.

Re: Actors

There are lots of them...

Paul Newman
Samuel L Jackson.

I really liked Tim Robbins in "Shawshank" and "Bull Durham"

And the sultry gal who played opposite Bogy in all those films--I forget her name now, but she was always ok with me..

And, of course, Orson Wells

So that explaines it.
Last night before I went to bed I tried to find a pic to post for JB (which I did) but almost every site had her and Michael Williams together.. I didn't connect the dots.
Guess what Mrs.Link is getting for Christmas.. might be "A Fine Romance" if I can find it!

Re: Actors

Good taste JB and the gang. Judi Dench is a fine actress. As Time Goes By is a favourite in this house too: pity it's not being made anymore.

I'd nominate:

Sean Connery as another good actor.
David Jason (may not be that famous in America unfortunatly)
Hugh Laurie (of House fame)
