Geez guys... We can't all be super rich white honkies and drive a Volvo DP.

This post was resurrected from a year ago by a newbie. He was just following instructions by doing a search! Give us a break!

BTW my White Anchor was not the source of my ills.

I wish the weather would ease up so I could use the damn boat. Today is the first sunny, DRY, warm day in seems like months. After I get caught up with this yard work IF the weather holds out I MIGHT get to play on the water.

The rubber seal that slides over the spline just above the water pumo impeller. I believe it seals the splines going into the upper gear box.
Beef

I didn't use anything, and I don't remember the manual requiring anything. Just coat the splines with marine grease and throw it back together.

Chevy/GM rates the 3.8 used in their cars 80-85, with dualjet 2 bbl, at only 110HP.
How come everyone says basically the same GM 3.8 block, in an OMC marine has at least 175HP?
Seems like quite a jump.....
My 4.3 TBI Safari van only has 160.

I have a 3.8 in my boat, and it has a strange semi water cooled exhaust system. (dry cast iron exhaust manifolds, but jacketed exhaust pipes with seawater cooling) Then, it has an auto style radiator with coolant for the engine.
I wish I could properly identify this unit. Seems like a stinger/800 but the exhaust is sure different. Anyone ever seen such a thing?

You should start a new thread. This one's 3 years old.
