I have a 06' 19ft Four Winns with a 4.3L 190hp Mercruiser.
Last Fall we changed the oil by hookin up an old bildge pump to a hose, and attaching the other end of the hose to the hole where the dip stick goes in.
The bildge sucked all the oil out of the oil pan and pumped it into a bucket and worked very well. The reason we did this was because in this boat, there is no way to reach under the motor to the drain plug in the oil pan.
Does anyone have another way of changing the oil, or a way of getting at the oil drain plug in the pan?
The oil filter is also very difficult to get at. We did not changed it because we did not have the tools last fall and now I would like to. There is only about 25 hours on the boat.
My question is, is there an adapter for this mercruiser motor so you can mount the oil filter somewhere more accessable and make changing the damn thing alot easier?
My old boat was 17 years old and alot easier to work on, they seem to leave less room in the engine bay in the new boats.
Thanks alot for the help everyone!!
