Adapters for control cables.

I have aquired an old single lever control box with my classic wooden boat, it's from 1960s I have heard that adapters are available for the ends of the control cables to go onto almost any modern outboard? any advise please, JBD

they are available at the iboats store, cables & controls. contorllers for omc,johnson,evinrude don't work on mercury, and visaversa. the throw of the linkage is different.

OK thank you for info, I was informed that whatever control box one had there were adapters available for the ends (engine end) to allow any control box to be used with any engine?JBD

The only truth to differant manufacters boxs being interchangable and ends available would be with aftermarket boxs, Most OMC. boxs are interchangable as are most Mercury, Mariner boxs but the manufactures don't interchange with one anouthers and the wire harnesses are differant also
