I did what everyone else did as far as the "Add On Tell Tail". I hooked it up to the water muff's & I got nothing. What should I do now?? I was planning on hooking it up to the truck & head to the lake, now I'm worried the impeller is not working. Should I leave it as is & head out? Or should I put the stock plug back in & try it? Please respond ASAP

Pull the hose off the top fitting and fire it up, see what happens.

It may take 10 - 20 seconds before it sprays out.

IS there any water coming out the top, or out the idle relief holes on the back of the midsection?

I'll check that now. I shut it right down, ('bout 30/40 sec.'s) after I didn't see the stream. I think I'll run it up to the lake & back it down into the water & give it a shot. I'm just afraid of cooking the motor at this point. Any other way to check to make sure the impeller is working? Why didn't they put a telltail on these motor's from the factory? I'll post my finding's in a little while. After I get it hooked to the truck I'll check back here to see if any other idea's appear. Thanks, MAXX

I always have telltale when on the muffs. Takes about 5 seconds to start. It is not as strong as when it's in the water. This is a Force 120 hp, factory telltale.

Make sure the muffs are as tight as possible. With the muffs off, I bend the rods holding the muffs by squeezing them together. I do this every time before using the muffs. I don't use full flow. I turn on full flow at the faucet, but have a small plastic ball valve just before the muff hose connector. I adjust the flow there, at the muffs.

Maybe there is a blockage or the impeller is in need of replacement.

Thank you all for the quick reply's. I just ran up to the lake & dipped the back end in & fired it up. It took about 20 sec.'s but it was good (Thank God), I guess I was just being a first timer here & went into panic mode. All is well, not the forceful spray I was hope'n for, but it is working. I split the Telltail with a "T" for the "Dual" effect because I thought it would look cool, & it does. I didn't get a chance to take it out to see how it looks at WOT, maybe later when the baby wake's up from her nap, but for sure tomorrow. I think because of the lack of pressure from the telltail it might be time to slap in a new one. I have no idea how long that one has been in there, might be the orig. Thanks again, MAXX

Always a good idea to replace the impeller if unsure of its age.
And then, change it every few years, or sooner if you run it thru sandbars or it gets run dry for any reason.

Well, The impeller is now next up on the repair list, even though it is working I want a new one in there. Now that I have a telltail I'll be able to keep visual on how it's performing, when the stream is getting low, like it is now, change it. I still am waiting to see how much more pressure the stream has at WOT. I'll be heading to the lake in the morning for a little cruising with a buddy that's never been in a boat. The weather should hold out till 2:00'ish, then scattered T-storms the rest of the day. I'll be happy to at least get a few hours in. Hey guy's, Thanks again for the quick reply's to calm me down. I hope to shed the newbi soon. Have a Good day, MAXX

Just a forwarning it should not take you 20 secs for you to get a stream out of you telltale while in the water! Should be more like 5 to 10 max! Be sure you are getting enough water while you are running! Ive had an impeller burn out and wear to pieces and come apart for running it too long with out water so be careful!

Maxxie,
I installed the telltale and ran it for the first time this weekend too - replaced water pump and impeller beginning of last season. I'm getting a good stream pretty much all the time, but don't seem to notice too much of a difference in intensity at WOT. Also, i noticed that after running the motor a while, then stopping for a while, then starting it up again, it took about 5 to 10 seconds to start pumping again. All this time though i also check the back two exhaust ports to make sure water is coming out there as well. I guess it may be time to change out my impeller already too, just to be safe.

By the way, where in NE PA are you? I'm in NE PA also.
