I'd like to add a kill switch to the end of the tiller handle on my 9.9 Johnson. When I use it as a kicker, it's a bit hard to reach the kill switch in a hurry. I figure I just have to wire in a pushbutton switch in the end of the tiller, but has anyone done this?

Thanks

I haven't personally wired in a kill switch to the end of the tiller arm, but I can tell you that it will be a Normally Open type switch (it closes or makes contact when you push it). Since the existing kill switch is also N.O. , you can parallel the connections , that is, connect the new pair of wires to the 2 existing wires on the original switch. You would then be able to kill the motor from either switch. My 84' 6HP Johnson has the tiller kill botton and I do find it easier than reaching around to do the kill thing.
