Wondering if someone might be able to help.

I have a 1996 Mariner 115 without a Tilt Gauge. I picked up a matching gauge and I'm wondering if the sending unit would be on the motor or do I need to add it as well. Where would I look for the sending unit?

The boat is an 17' 1996 Smokercraft, would the wiring for the Tilt Gauge and sending unit be in the harness? I found a unused single brown wire coming out of the wiring near the throttle.

Any help would be great.
Thanks

The sending unit doesn't come with the motor. You'll need to get one. It does indeed wire into the brown wire with the white stripe.

Thanks for the confirmation/info, I cant seem to locate the other end of the wire which I assume would be at the rear of the boat near the motor? I'll keep looking.

Cheers

Re: Adding a Power Tilt Gauge

I just installed a guage on my '07 "SunTracker" with a 90HP Merc. The trim switch is about the size of a half dollar located just under the motor casing on the side toward the boat. It has two wires, one ground and one brn/wht. They apparently didn't think to send the brn/wht to the dash and I had to wire my own from the motor. Anyway it works!
