I have recently replaced the floor in my 22 ft Aqua Sport open fisherman with ? plywood/polyester resin and fabric. I have not even painted the floor yet. We changed the plans and purchased a t-top with a hard top. I?d say that the whole structure ways 300-400 lbs. It has 4 floor flanges to mount to the floor and 4 other flanges to mount to a center console. The top is 6?x?9? made of plywood and fiberglass (fairly heavy). I?m building a center console to fit the alum structure but the console will be suspended over the floor and supported totally by the alum structure to allow for additional floor space.

The diameter of the flanges are about 4? and have 3 holes in them. I?m concerned that lag bolts might not hold after a few pounding endeavors but I don?t really know. If I used plates under the floor and bolt through, I?ll have to cut a access hole for each of the floor flanges and would prefer not to unless deemed absolute necessary.

How important is it to use plates to reinforce the t-top.?

For me its either install pads under the deck with access hatches or mount the whole thing on a pad on TOP of the new deck.
I would go for optiion 2 , bevel the edges and epoxy glass it down.
Like this you don't need any thru deck holes except for wires etc.
