I hear so much about recommended rpm that I was wondering ifit easy to add a tach to an outboard motor? In particular, I am talking about about a 25hp mercury 2 stroke.

Sixers, do you have a remote or tiller? If you have the remote, you may already have the tach connection on the wire harness (near the throttle). I put one on mine, a teleflex, and all I needed was a harness adapter ($12.00) and it hooked right up. I have an '03 25hp EL remote and for that motor the tach setting is 4 pole. Let me know. The boat and motor are on order. It is a console with start at the console(remote).
