Just got a 60 hp gale and I see on the You-Tube they can have a tiller? I am interested. Any advice or source appreciated. Thanks

Yes it is possible.----I believe the same tiller as used on the 1960's 28 / 33 / 40 HP Johnson / Evinrude will work.--I would say that the first thing to do is to evaluate the entire motor before spending money.------No need for a battery or controls for that motor to run.-----Your location ?

Upstate NY in the Finger lakes. I have to get it on a stand, go through things before I'll spend a dime n it. It was free with a boat and trailer.

good idea. I think sometimes they have mounting holes for a tiller and a plug/cutout for a throttle, if you want that. I have seen tiler steering motors with separate hand throttles.

Yep, it uses the same tiller as 28-30-35-40hp motors of the era. Also same one used on the Evinrude/Johnson V-4 which it was cloned from.

RE your PM to me-----the tiller will work on your '67 Big Twin if it is a rope start model. Electric start and Lark models were not made for tillers

Post a picture of the ports side of the steering bracket if you can.----I thought you said it was heading to be recycled at 12 cents / lb ?
