Adding a Trim Pump

I just purchased a 1996 17Ft Lowe 170 boat that is outstanding condition. It looks like there was an option for trim pump that wasn?t taken at time of original purchase. The gauge is on the dash, the button is on the throttle, and the motor has hydraulics to manually stop the motor in different positions, but no trim pump or motor. Is this a difficult process to obtain and install what I need myself?

Thanks
Matt (newbe boatman) Wilson

Re: Adding a Trim Pump

can you post your make and model of your outboard so that we can better help you? installation probably requires you to remove the outboard and shouldn't be all that difficult.

Its a 1996 Evinrude 48 HP. And it says SPL on the side under Evinrude. Hope that helps.

Sounds like you have a tilt-assist cylinder.

If you mean "Raise and lower it manualy", then you are correct. You have to unlock the Cylinder in order to move it up or down. How can I upgrade, or is it possible?
