Adding additional fuel tank

Hello,
Not to sure where it put this question, so I hope I picked the right category. Has anyone added an additional fuel tank by using a fuel valve, to switch from tank to tank. Some of the setups that I have seen requires someone to physically climb back to the fuel tank, unhook the main tank and reconnect to the second tank. The problem with this is that you need to shut off the motor and climb into some pretty uncompromising locations. I haven't seen any after market kits to do this so it will be homemade. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom

Re: Adding additional fuel tank

Either an electric or manual fuel selector valve is the ONLY proper way to do this. Separate tank feeds into the valve, one line out of the valve to the engine. If you use an electric valve, the selector switch can also switch fuel level senders so you only need one fuel gauge to read either tank.

Re: Adding additional fuel tank

My Sylvan Offshore has 2 tanks with a manual selector valve mounted in front of the engine. I have to open the engine cover and manually turn the valve from left tank to right tank. But it's just a flip of a switch to change the fuel gauge from one tank to the other.
