I am looking at buying a boat with a caulkins single axle trailer. Boat weight is 3250 dry. Can I have a shop add an axel? How much would something like that run?

Probaly need to find out the capacity of the axle you have under the trailer. Another option is to upgrade to an axle with a higher capacity.(don't forget to check the capacity, load range of the tires) Good Luck Blake
