Id like to mount another fuel filter inline with the existing one. I have a 115 yamaha 87 and like just about every one else on here I have dirt in the carbs giving me a bog.

Ques is there should be enough suction from the fuel pump to give me enough flow right ?

If you have an 87 and the carbs have never been rebuilt its probably time. Installing another filter won't fix that problem. Can you do it, probably. Is it necessary -- probably not but then that's just my opinion.

To update the fuel system, eliminate the fuel disconnect and inline engine mounted filter. Then you can replace it with an inline filter. The first two items tend to cause a fuel restriction over time. Sounds like it also time to clean carbs and replace fuel pump.

Ray, I have just installed a Racor 10 micron water separator and I have not eliminated the Yamaha inline engine filter and fuel disconnect. I left the fuel disconnect because I use a one gallon plastic tank with hose and fuel disconnect to de-carb the engine. Should I replace the fuel disconnect with a new one? I left the Yamaha inline engine filter as insurance. I replace the Yamaha plastic inline filter screen regularly. What gets restricted in that filter? Is keeping that filter like wearing suspenders and a belt at the same time or just another unnecessary thing that can fail?
